Privacy Policy

Last updated: on publication of this page.

This privacy policy explains what information consumertechfix.com (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit https://consumertechfix.com/, why we collect it, and what choices you have. The site is operated by Kirimas Kersys. If you have any question about this policy, contact us at dovydas@kirimas.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form — your name, email address and the content of your message. We use this only to answer you, and we keep the message in our mailbox.
  • Comments — the name, email address and comment text you submit, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which WordPress stores to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it.
  • Newsletter — if we offer a newsletter and you subscribe, your email address, until you unsubscribe.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs: IP address, browser type, referring page, and the time of each request. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.

If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), because visitors can download and extract that data.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them for:

  • remembering your light/dark display preference (stored locally in your browser only);
  • remembering your name and email if you leave a comment and tick the box to do so;
  • keeping you logged in, if you have an account on the site;
  • analytics and advertising, as described below.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them will not stop you reading the site.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising. Third-party advertising partners — which may include Google AdSense and its certified partners — may place and read cookies or similar identifiers on your device to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

We do not control the cookies set by advertising partners and we do not have access to the data they collect. Their own privacy policies apply.

Analytics

We use analytics software (such as Google Analytics) to understand which guides are useful and where visitors come from. It records pages viewed, approximate location, device type and referring site. IP addresses are anonymised where the tool supports it. You can prevent analytics collection with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you, and may set a cookie to attribute the sale. See our affiliate disclosure page for the full explanation.

Embedded content from other websites

Guides may embed videos or other content (for example from YouTube). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and monitor your interaction with the embed.

How long we keep your data

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically. Contact form messages are kept in our mailbox for as long as they are useful for support, and deleted on request.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, export or erase the personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing — we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email dovydas@kirimas.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or that we erase it — this does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we keep WordPress, the theme and any plugins up to date. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the limited data we hold.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be noted on this page.
